Air conditioning

VRV Air conditioning & Ventilation – High street retail banking institution

The Project

A blue chip high street banking institution required a major upgrade to its existing ventilation and air conditioning services within a three storey retail banking hall and associated office and storage complex.

The challenge

With a mix of retail banking space and upper floor office and storage, this upgrade project required DCI Refrigeration & Electrical Limited to undertake a full design and build scheme. An integrated system was needed to maximise efficiency while catering for the varying requirements within the building – from a large open banking hall on the ground floor to busy administration areas on the upper floors.

The solution

DCI designed and installed a Daikin VRV IV air conditioning system which incorporated externally located REY16QT & REY8QT condensing units, coupled to 16 four-way blow cassettes and associated BS boxes. Minimising disruption was paramount so DCI ensured all invasive works were carried out during closed hours of the branch. The existing basement VAM unit was retained and additional VAM units were added to the ventilation system to maintain the required quality of fresh air within the building. Detailed drawings were required to show all elements of the project and these can be viewed on the subsequent pages.

Conclusion

Focusing on the operational needs of the building and its staff, DCI delivered a first class upgrade of the air conditioning and ventilation systems whilst allowing both the retail and office spaces to remain fully operational. Careful system design and equipment specification ensured a system that balanced the climate control needs of the large open banking hall as well as meeting rooms and more densely populated office space above.
