Bespoke ventilation for busy bakery – Higgidy Ltd, West Sussex

The project

DCI was asked to improve the air quality and reduce temperatures within a highly established bakery. In response DCI developed a bespoke engineered design while still maintaining the CIBSE design requirements and being mindful that there was very limited space available for additional plant. Also vital to the project was the need for the bakery to remain fully operational throughout the works.

The solution

DCI identified that there was minimal make-up air within the problem area and, in the limited space available, installed powder coated flat oval duct work to the perimeter wall, fitted with linear diffusers positioned at the personnel’s knee height. Working alongside overhead extraction, this provides good air movement and helps maintain a comfortable working environment for the busy bakers.

Conclusion

Recognising DCI’s expertise across a variety of building services,  Higgidy has been able to benefit from more efficient and cost-effective solutions while maintaining and improving working conditions during a phase of rapid growth for the popular food producer.
