The project
When transforming its Abbotswood, Hampshire, food outlet with its ‘store of the future’ concept, Southern Co-op relied on its long-standing working relationship with DCI to create an innovative HVAC and refrigeration solution that would fit the look, feel and operation of a store unlike any others in the existing estate.
The challenge
The challenges on this extensive refit project were three-fold - aesthetic, operational and logistical.
With a major feature of the new store concept being open ceilings, DCI’s system solution had to be smart – both visually and operationally.
DCI also had to plan smart in order to ensure smooth installation alongside all the other refit works in progress on the site.
The solution
The extensive works undertaken by DCI on this project included:
- Refrigeration plant design, manufacture and installation
- Cold Room installation - including plant equipment and controls
- Refrigeration Cases - custom-designed for this store
- Air conditioning design and installation including services and controls
- All refrigeration services including valves and controls
- Ventilation design, installation and controls
- All HVAC+R wiring and controls
- Integrated BMS system
- Full RDM refrigeration alarm network
